Summer Vacation Is Here!!

Even though my kids have been out of school for a week now, I still can't believe the school year has come to a close.   I don't know about you, but this school year flew by way to fast and that was with me helping out doing copies once a week!

With my oldest going into middle school and my youngest now going into 4th grade, my goal is to make this be the best summer ever as I don't know how much more my oldest will want to "hang" with his parents.

So far our first week was eventful as my oldest had a birthday party on Monday to go to and my youngest had one on Tuesday to go to!  Both nights we ended up going to karate as we were going to be leaving on Wednesday to go up to Ludington State Park!  We tend to go there every year boating, tubing, and swimming, but this is the first time we were going to go camping.  The only reason why we were actually able to camp was due to they ended up having their mini cabin open Wednesday and Thursday so we were able to reserve that!

If you've never been to Ludington State Park let me say you are missing out as there is so much to do there.  On one side of the park you have Lake Michigan with miles of beach so you don't have to be on a crowded beach!  On the other side of the park is Hamlin Lake and they do have a boat ramp so if you have your own boat/ski doo you can bring that and have fun flying around on the lake!   All the times we have gone, Hamlin Lake has never seemed really busy.  What people do a lot of the time is take their boats and beach them by the sand dunes and just enjoy a quiet get away from all the people.  There are also a lot of great fishing spots on Hamlin Lake as well.  My son learned all about them this year.  Usually when we go we don't get up there until afternoon and we spend most of the time tubing and swimming.  Since we were camping this time and had more time my husband took my son fishing and they had the best time ever.  First they started fishing around (and on) the dam and then they went and got the boat and both locations they were catching a lot of Bluegill and Bass and my son was bummed when it got dark and they had to go in.  Put it this way.. he woke us up at 5am to see if it was time to go fishing yet as he couldn't wait to get back out.  ;)    So even if you don't have a boat, you can still fish along the river from Hamlin Lake to Lake Michigan.

While the boys were busy fishing, my daughter and I went on some walks.  If you like hiking and bike riding, then this is also the place for you as they have trails all over!   While on our walk we saw quite a bit of wild life, but the best was seeing a Momma deer and her baby and the fun thing was she wasn't to far off the path either and we got to just stand there and enjoy watching them.   We also walked down to Lake Michigan to watch the sunset, but unfortunately the clouds rolled in and the following day all it did was rain pretty much all day.

Thankfully we were able to go fishing for a little while in the morning before the rain started, so that made the kids a little happy, but the rain sure put a damper on things as there was so much I wanted to do there.   It did break a little bit in the late afternoon so the kids could go out one last time.

So even though it rained half the time we were there, we wouldn't of traded going up there for anything!  I now know to keep an eye on their calendar so in case I see a mini cabin open again due to a cancellation, I can reserve it as I know all of us can't wait to go back up there.   Next year we for sure be trying to get a week up there and we all can't wait!

Back to Blogger

As you can see, I've moved my blog back to blogger as I'm not blogging as much as I used to, so I thought why spend the money for a server and domain when I can can do it for free here.

I will be making some changes here with my format... so please excuse the dust.  ;)

Can I just say I love the fact that Friends is now on Netflix!  It brings back so many memories of when I lived in an apartment with my friends.  Where those ever the days... when you really didn't have that much responsibility.

As long as you worked and had enough money to pay off your bills life was good.  You could come and go as you please without having a care in the world.   Or you could stay out late at the bar or at your other friends house while singing on their karaoke machines.

Of course then I think about how my life is now.  Yes, I have a lot more responsibility as I'm married with two kids, but honestly, I wouldn't trade it for anything.   While there are times I do wish I could just take off and do what I want when I want, but seeing those faces (Clean or dirty) smile at me, telling me they love me makes it all worth it.

Happy Valentine's Day

I know it's a day early, but I also know I haven't been the best on blogging, plus I know tomorrow is going to be a very busy day as we have 2 basketball games plus will be leaving on vacation!  I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day!!   Maybe it be filled with love!

What's that smell?

I find it funny how sometimes you can really be into something, then all of a sudden times change and you no longer are into it.   Before I got married, I remember burning candles all the time.  I loved the look and smell of it.   Then I got married and that ended up coming to an end as my husband doesn't like/care for it at all.

Just a month ago I ended up finding a really good smelling candle at one of our local stores and have caught myself lighting it and enjoying the smell all over again.

What's funny is since buying it now I have friend talking about candles again as one of my friends is having a candle party and another one told me she likes diptyque candles, which I had never heard of before, but I found diptyque candles here.

Have you ever been into something, then end up getting out of it to only get into it again?  If so, what was your thing?!?

Christmas Break

It's hard to believe that Christmas break is already upon us! Maybe because we are sitting here just days before Christmas with no snow. Yes, we've had no snow before, but this year we had snow on Halloween & Thanksgiving, but this whole month we have had zero snow (knock on wood) and all the snow we did have melted already.

Just in case I don't get back on before Christmas arrives, I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New year!!

I love sitting here listening to my husband play our electric piano.   A lot of people think that an electric piano would sound nothing like the real thing, but let me just tell you that the one we have would be any muscians friend as it not only sounds like a real piano, but also real drums, guitar, organ.. etc.   The bonus with this type of piano for muscians is that you can record any songs you play on a disc!  My husband enjoys writing his own songs and if he didn't have that option, he would of forgot how some of the songs he wrote years ago sounds like as he plays more by ear than by reading music.

So if you are ever looking for a piano, don't shy away from the electric ones, you might be surprise how far they have come!  (Plus they are a lot lighter to move too!)
